After BOM (Bill of materials) was rewritten for the Sage 200 2010 release it was hoped that the Works Orders module would next followed by the other manufacturing modules. Unfortunately, we are still awaiting this in 2017 - it's an enormous task to update due to the complexity and some undocumented features!

Make it customisable!
Allow Salvage in BOM - so that items can be split down rather than just built up
Allow Off-cuts - Similar to salvage, allow off-cuts/unused or byproduct components to be booked in for reuse elsewhere
Allow pre-allocation - allow linking of a WO in progress to a sales order
Allow cost adjustment after closure - Closed WO are static, would be nice if we can correct costs/components etc
Notifications for late WO and automated reporting - the module is stuck in that "desktop app" state with no automation. notification options would be ideal
Create web-app for on-the-fly stock checks, logging stock to a works order & logging time on the job (essentially replace WTE)
CRM Connector - So that we can post a sales order and raise a WO at the same time
