Retain purchase invoice history in greater detail on purchase order

recording a purchase invoice records the lines matched to the purchase order but not the invoice itself - i.e. it records 3 lines. what would be better would be to record the purchase invoice record & then the lines that were matched off to create that invoice, if that were combined with a scanned attachment it would be very useful.
