Currently the design of the client application for Sage 200 means that it is impossible to have both production and test client installed on the one pc at the same time and in order to switch between the two environments it requires the uninstall of one and then the reinstall of the other. From a practical point of view this is not workable, as standard users do not have administrative rights and therefore require IT assistance to perform these tasks which is a waste of effort. Sage's response to this request was to install a VM for to use for one of the environments so as to not have to run uninstall / reinstall process. It is not acceptable that we take additional overhead cost for managing additional VMs in order to provide a solution to the software design that never considered test and production environments. As Sage now charge an annual license fee for the test environment, they need to provide a workable solution for it to be used.
