Option to submit VAT return more than 12 months old from within Sage 200

When Submitting a VAT Return in Sage 200 on the submit your period screen after logging on to the Government Gateway, the periods available to select from the dropdown list are limited to the last 12 months.

The same restriction used to apply in Sage 50 accounts, but a new checkbox to 'Show All Open Periods' was introduced to the window, can this please be added to Sage 200?

It is possible to work around this limitation by using the MTD Module.

Idea Benefit Will allow users to easily submit a failed VAT return that they hadn't realised had failed at the time but is then not longer available to submit.
How do you solve for this problem today? Use the MTD Module

    My understanding from the details provided by the partner is that the customer had attempted to submit the return when it was due and was unaware that it had failed.

    HMRC had then asked them to re-submit the return, over a year after it had failed, and this was not possible from within Sage 200.

    I could not find this limitation in Sage 200 documented anywhere (which has been fed back), nor was I able to find much in the way of previous requests for the ability to submit old returns by Sage 200 Customers or partners.

    However, I was able to find requests for this functionality for Sage 50 Accounts before v28.1 when the 'Show All Periods' was introduced. I suspected this may be in more demand for Sage 50 Accounts because of the higher volume of customers that use it.

    I logged the Idea myself, as this falls into the category of ideas where the implementation of the functionality would in no way help the person who needed it at the time. So they would be unlikely to log the suggestion when they no longer have the problem.

    There is an in product submissions tab that shows which returns have gone through and which ones have failed. Surely a customer that fails to hit their submission date wouldn't be able to leave it for 12 months before submitting again? Could you provide more detail please?
