In Sage 50, information you could access drilling down into an order could be searchable whether its in a showing column or not. For example, you could search part of an address and it would bring up the orders containing this.
Info referenced by customers such as site reference or their order number are things we have to search to find an order, but it requires the columns to be ticked and showing to do this, which feels slightly redundant.

I like to know that when I search, Sage is only going to match on fields included in the list
I would prefer to see the search option enhanced to provide a "one-time" filter - i.e. same as creating a new filter but without the need to create and save one ... All the columns are available when using filters, regardless of how many or how few are on the list
